These Farewell Cake Fails Will Make You Rethink Quitting Your Job!

By Luisa K

They say that a change is as good as a holiday, so why not switch jobs or relocate should the opportunity arise? When these employees decided to hand in their notice of resignation, little did they expect their employers and co-workers to react in the way they did. Of course, the icing on the cake was when their co-workers presented them with their farewell cakes. Usually, this is a very nice gesture, one that honors your hard work and commitment to the company, as well as wishing you well in the future. However, these cakes display a slightly different message! These are not your usual leaving gifts but rather a sweet treat that will leave a sour aftertaste. While it’s unclear whether these co-workers were genuinely glad or sad to see their colleague leave, these shocking farewell cakes are likely to leave a lasting impression!

A Deadly Cake

When you’ve handed in your notice suddenly, you can imagine how some of your colleagues might be a little bit mad at you, especially if your decision to leave has left them with a whole lot of extra work. However, no matter how angry or disapproving your colleagues are, this cake is taking things a bit too far!

Credit: boredpanda.com/Cara Smith

These colleagues went as far as expressing their anger, and maybe sadness, by presenting their co-worker with a cake of a graveyard and what looks like them walking to their own grave! Still, if you look closely, you will see that they have included flowers, so that’s at least a touching gesture!

No Love Lost There

Some people are better at hiding their emotions than others. There are people who choose to print their thoughts onto a cake as these colleagues did here. “Your last day? Good.” There have been warmer send-offs, that’s for sure.

Credit: scrollbreak.com

This was the cake that a group of employees commissioned for their grumpy boss. The funny side to this is that the colleagues finally got the opportunity to mock their boss by making him this cake, knowing that it was their last day and that the boss couldn’t fire them!

When You Become a Meme

You know you’re officially a joke when you become a meme. The moment that somebody quotes your famous last words and replicates your actions on a meme is the moment you know you’ll probably be quoted and imitated forever more.

Credit: Forsaken

The funniest thing about this cake is that almost everybody who has ever been employed can appreciate this feeling. Most of us have had one of those days in the office when we feel enough is enough and want to walk out there and then!

Famous Last Words

Not all of these cakes are from bitter bosses or colleagues who are glad to see their co-workers leave the company. Sometimes, the message comes from the departing co-worker who had decided to have the last word before leaving their place of work forever.

Credit: reddit.com/r/funny/comments/51zph4/

In this case, this employee got laid-off by the company they worked for. Disappointed with the news that they’d be losing a much-liked colleague and annoyed at their company over their decision, the remaining co-workers got together and made this cake for their colleague who got laid-off!

When You Become Known as the “Quitter”

Whenever you leave a job, your former boss and colleagues usually rally around to get you a gift, flowers, or a cake to bid you farewell. Although you shouldn’t expect to receive anything, sometimes you can’t help but wonder what they will get you.

Credit: cupcakeapothecary.blogspot.lt/

And if they get you a cake, what will be on it? What warm wishes will they send you off with? So you can only imagine how this person felt when their leaving cake had the word “quitter” in capital letters, spread boldly across the cake.

I Quit! Have a Piece of Cake On Me!

When people decide to quit their jobs, they make the announcement in all kinds of ways. Some are subtle and respect protocol by giving the required two weeks’ notice, whereas others are more dramatic, with some employees simply quitting their job and walking out.

Credit: .imgur.com/DjqoVGY.jpg

Hopefully, it doesn’t happen too often, but we’re used to hearing of people slamming their desk drawer closed and walking out of their place of work. However, this woman’s notice of resignation tops them all. Let’s hope she didn’t want a reference from them!

Google versus Bing

Google versus Bing! There has always been a bit of rivalry between these two competitive search engines, and it seems that there is also some rivalry between the people who work within the companies as well. Simply put, you don’t quit your job at Google to go and work at Bing!

Credit: suchtragedy

The co-workers at Google have expressed their disapproval of their colleague leaving them to go work at Bing by making them a cake of…their own Google search results. The cake shows Google’s search results for the term: “congratulations traitor!”

Lovely Cake – Not Sure About the Message?!

This was the cake that one woman received on her last day at her job. At first glance, it is a very pretty cake with beautiful details. But if you look closer, you will see what is written on the cards at the top of the cake, which will leave a sour taste in your mouth, as it did in hers.

Credit:thecakeboutiquect.com/

“A successful job interview starts with a handshake and ends with…letting everyone down.” Somehow we get the impression that these co-workers were less than impressed with their colleagues’ decision to leave their company. Clearly, they felt as though their colleague who was leaving had really dropped them in it!

There’s Nothing Like the Support of Your Co-Workers

Leaving your place of work marks the end of an era, no matter how long you have worked there. In some cases, having great colleagues might be the reason you want to stay in one job. They might be the reason you go to work every day, even if you don’t like the job that much.

Credit: imgur/ unknown

But judging by this cake, there is no love lost between the person leaving their job here and their bitter colleagues. When their last words, which they’ve gone to the trouble of writing on a cake, are “no one will miss you,” you can feel reassured that you have made the right decision to leave!

A Leaving Cake You Probably Won’t Be Eating

It’s hard to imagine a cake being so unappetizing, but this one is a good contender. Even though it was most likely commissioned to be made by expert cake makers, it is the least tempting dessert you could probably find!

Credit: BoredPanda.com

If you were the (un)lucky recipient of this cake, you may also be offended at the choice of words and art on the cake – if you could call it art, that is! There have been nicer farewell cakes given to employees when they’ve left their jobs. This one might make a person glad to be leaving their current position!

Expressing Their Sadness in Film Memes

Some people express their pain and upset over losing a colleague by demonstrating a sense of humor, as these co-workers have done here. The combination of movie scene frames and narration is funny, but on the positive side, it does show that the person leaving will be sadly missed.

Credit: JtotheWay

These co-workers have got together to present their departing colleague with a cake that shows them how missed they will be and how sad it is that they are not staying at the company forever. However, the person receiving the cake may be glad to be rid of such clingy co-workers – who knows?!

Taking Your Resignation to Heart

It is common for there to be mixed emotions when you leave one job to move on to another. Sometimes your colleagues might be annoyed that you are leaving them to do your share of the work. Others don’t like it if you have been lucky enough to find a similar job that offers a better salary.

Credit: scrollbreak.com

These colleagues, on the other hand, seem to have taken their colleague’s resignation to heart by asking them, through a question written on a cake, “Why? Why do you hate us?” We bet the person leaving didn’t think they’d be dealing with this on their last day at work.

These Colleagues Skipped on the Grammar Check and Good Manners

It would be interesting to know whether any part of this cake actually got eaten! In the history of bad farewell cakes given to a person leaving their job, this has to be the worst! On the other hand, it is a fantastic cake because lets be honest, the problem with it is that it doesn’t look like a cake. It looks too much like the object it is imitating!

Credit: SugarGirlsCakeShop’s Bucket

When this worker started working at the company who presented them with this cake on their last day of working there, they probably didn’t expect that things would conclude in this way! Their final gift from the company was a cake that looks like a roll of toilet roll, with a blob of poop on the side.

A Job Reference with an Expiration Date

Maybe this company thought they were resourceful by giving their employee this cake. It is a cake that doubles up as a leaving present and a work reference all in one. Yet, somehow, we don’t think so. In all honesty, who would present this cake as a reference to any future employer?

Credit: captain_poptart

But judging by the quotation marks around the words “hard work,” we don’t think the company was all that satisfied with the quality of this employee’s work in the first place! And the fact that the cake is likely to be eaten before any job reference is called for doesn’t spell out good news for the person leaving their job at this company!

#SorryNotSorry

You can please some of the people some of the time, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time. It isn’t known what the recipient of this ill-worded cake thought of their co-workers and boss, but at least now he knows that they think of him!

Credit: scrollbreak.com

But every cloud has a silver lining, or in this case, a glitter lining! The fact that the co-workers have sought out a glitter pen for the cake shows they’ve gone to some trouble for their former colleague. We just hope that the glitter on the cake is edible and not a glue-glitter pen used for kid’s artwork!

Batman Can’t Save You Now

The co-worker leaving their job here is probably likely to tell friends and family outside of work that they received a Batman cake from their colleagues at work. They’re probably less likely to tell them what was written on the cake.

Credit: TheObviousChild

No, this person wasn’t being compared to Batman for their hard work and refusal to give up during their time working at the company. Instead, they are compared to Batman’s parents – dead. As their co-workers so nicely had printed on the cake: “Just like Batman’s parents, you’re dead to us!”

Message in a Litter Tray

Some of the best messages are hidden away or presented to you in unconventional ways, like the idea of a message in a bottle. Finding a bottle with a rolled-up piece of paper inside that has a kind and loving note written on it. It’s such a lovely gesture, right?!

Credit: blazepress.com

But we don’t get what’s so romantic or adoring about a message in a cat’s litter tray. Admittedly, this isn’t a cat’s litter tray but a cake that has been made to look like one. Either way, we don’t think that the receiver of this farewell cake was all that thrilled with their gift!

Balls Voyage Becky!

This might seem like an odd farewell cake to give to a co-worker who is leaving their job. However, there is a slightly more logical reason behind it, which might make a bit more sense. Even so, there were probably less obscene ways to send off a much-loved employee!

Credit: i.imgur.com/BYC8yr4.jpg

This co-worker had handed in her resignation letter because she was going to work with monkeys in South Africa, so naturally, this was the cake she received from her bosses as a final farewell and expression of good luck! We hope she liked the joke!

Bras and Pizza!

When this boss left the company they were managing; their colleagues demonstrated just how much they knew their boss by having his two all time favorite things put on his leaving cake. How they knew that they were his two favorite things is somehow another matter.

Credit:needfunny.net/

The cake has a bra or bikini top on top of a pizza, showing that his favorite things must be bras or perhaps, women, and pizza! What we’d like to have seen documented is the reaction from their boss when he received this cake!

When Your Co-Workers Underestimate Your IQ

This has to be the least sophisticated way of telling your co-worker that you are happy to see them leave. Either that or they were sad to see them go and decided to express their hurt in a harsh and slightly passive-aggressive way.

Credit:awkward.com/ the chive

Not only does this cake and its wording give the impression that they’re underestimating the recipient’s IQ a little here, but the choice of words also isn’t the nicest way to send off a member of the team. We can only hope that the team’s choice of farewell cakes improves over time!

A Very Literal Cake

These co-workers decided to go for a very literal cake to give to their colleague on his last day of working at their company. Maybe there was a reason behind the way the cake was shaped and designed, or maybe it was just to match the wording on the cake.

Credit: Edible Art by Lorna

The only possible explanation is that they were workers or builders, and his trousers always slipped down. One thing is certain though, with his name splashed in big letters on the cake, there is no way that the man who this cake was made for, Dan, can deny any association with the cake!

Game Over

This cake would be just perfect for giving to a colleague who worked as a computer game designer or something similar. Nothing quite spells out the end of an era like the two simple but fatal words, which are: “game over!”

Credit:blended-fun.blogspot.com/

What’s curious about this image is that there is a question mark underneath, which gives the impression that the employee or boss was unaware that they would be leaving their job until the moment they received this cake.

Shanghai News

When you inform your boss and colleagues that you are leaving your position of work to move to China, what should they get you as a going-away present? A cake that replicas the front cover of the Shanghai Daily newspaper, of course.

Credit: mojly.com

The newspaper cake cover features decorative panda bears, a photographer, and a list of false headlines on different topics. Judging by the less-than-optimistic topics on the front page of this newspaper, made out of cake icing, the rest of the team are trying to put him off leaving.

Balloons, Cake and an Added Insult

The balloons, penguin, and word “congrats” all signify well wishes for the person who has chosen to resign from their company. But their co-workers couldn’t resist one last dig by adding the word “traitor” to the message on the cake.

Credit: dailyforest.com/

The employee who has decided to leave their job has most likely found a better job with a competitor company, no doubt with a higher salary as well! It serves as a reminder to us all that one day you can be working with someone and the next, you’re working against them!

When Your Colleagues Say the Nicest Things…

These colleagues have gone to the trouble of gifting their co-worker with a beautiful leaving cake on their last day of working at their firm. However, they could have chosen a better selection of words! It isn’t a good sign when your co-workers bid you farewell with the words: “see ya!”

Credit: cakes.pitsed.com/

Yet, every cloud has a silver lining. Or, in this case, a silver can of beer! The cake may have been a bit of a let-down with its witty wording, but the can of beer is a nice touch that the recipient is sure to enjoy. Something to drown your sorrows with…

What’s Worse than Leaving a Bad Impression?

Everybody knows that first impressions are really important! Should you make the fatal mistake of messing up the first impression, then the chances are that things will be difficult to fix going forward. But if this cake is anything to go by, then, there is something worse than leaving a bad impression!

Credit: BoredPanda.com

..And that is to leave no impression at all. We hope that this was a joke, but according to the co-workers of the poor soul whose last day of work it is, nobody can remember his name. This has got to be the worst thing about working at a company for a length of time.

If You’re Going to Leave, Just Leave

Sometimes when some people decide to leave their job, the decision has involved careful planning, and the co-worker may have even discussed their choice several times over with their colleagues. If you’ve been in that situation, your colleagues may even have gotten tired of hearing your plans to leave.

Credit: scrollbreak.com

If your resignation has been a long time coming, then you can expect to receive a cake like this one, with the words: “haven’t you left yet?” written on it. There is a good chance that the leaving party for the person who was given this cake was short and sweet.

Beautiful Cake, Terrible Choice of Words

You’d wonder how anybody could finish off such a tasty-looking cake with such a terrible choice of words?! Yet, if these cakes are anything to go by, you can always rely on your co-workers to completely spoil your appetite for a slice of delicious-looking cake!

Credit: awesomeinventions.com/BenDover

Nobody can know for sure whether the teams at these companies really liked their co-workers to whom they gifted these cakes. But if they did, then their choice of words is shocking, and you can only imagine what they might say to a co-worker they didn’t like!

A Carrot Congratulations!

A lot of people can comprehend the situation here. For anybody who has worked in a company that they dislike, they will surely be able to relate. Your colleagues are the only thing that gets you through the days there, and unbeknown to everyone else, you’re all secretly plotting your escape plan!

Credit: livesmallridefree.com

After you’ve formed a bond, based on your mutual hatred for your jobs, it’s only natural that your colleagues would come together to have a cake made for you, celebrating the brave move to finally quit your job! Clearly, you were the first of the bunch to make a big move!

Leavers Go to Hell…Apparently

You never can quite predict what the reactions will be when you leave your job. So the words transcribed onto this cake probably came as quite a shock! Who knew that work “friends” could get quite so emotional over your decision to leave?!

Credit: needfunny.net

Once you know how your colleagues really feel about you and your resignation, even the most delicious of cakes can lose their appeal when they have something like this written upon them. Apparently, if you leave the company at which you work, you go to hell, or at least that’s what happens according to these co-workers.

No Longer Part of the Team

In some walks of life, you only really fit in and are considered one of them if you stay put and know your place. The minute you decide to stray, things can get nasty, as this employee discovered. Even so, it does appear that these co-workers did go a step too far when they had this cake made.

Credit: TryAnotherPiece

If you don’t want to work at their company, then you are not just out of the team; you are considered persona non grata! Either this team has a wicked sense of humor, or they are all very bitter and twisted over their colleague’s decision to resign!

Say it with a Cake

We can’t help but feel terribly sorry for the women who received this cake! Imagine the excitement on their faces when they were summoned to their boss’s office or to a staff meeting, only to find a lovely cake with their names on it!

Credit: BoredPanda.com

Only in this case, the gift of a cake didn’t bring with it happy news. We can only imagine the speed at which the smiles dropped from their faces as they read the message written on the frosting. What’s more, is that their boss clearly got their money’s worth by adding three of their employees to the same cake to inform them that they were all fired!

Grumpy Cat is Not Sorry to See You Go

The cat on this cake is visibly very miserable and unhappy! It’s not the nicest of facial expressions to have staring back at you on your last day at work. And just to get the message across even more clearly, the team at this company has added a little message too.

Credit: demilked.com/texasref

“Your last day? Good.” Even though this is most likely a joke, the person leaving the company probably has some doubts in their mind now over whether or not it really was a joke or if their former colleagues were actually happy to see them leave!

You’re Fired! Good Luck with That!

If you haven’t noticed by now, presenting an employee with a cake that says “you’re fired” on it seems to be the new way of informing them that they have been sacked from their job! Just to make the situation even more insulting, the cake is beautifully decorated and has several tiers!

Credit: bike_bird_ink

Whoever had this made sure went to a lot of trouble to tell their colleague that they’re fired. On the positive side, the person who has been fired may not have a job anymore, but they do have a seven-tiered cake to indulge in. Bring on the sugar coma!

Charted Success

This cake is just perfect for anybody who works at a company that deals in numbers and charts. You can always rely on your nerdy colleagues to somehow link your farewell cake with the work that you do in your department!

Credit: Shekinah Deli

By the looks of things on this chart, John’s time spent working in marketing wasn’t a great success. To make it easier for him to understand where he went wrong, his co-workers have kindly had it iced on to his leaving cake.

Good Wishes Down the Toilet

This is one of the least appetizing cakes we’ve ever seen! There is a good chance that nobody will be eating this cake! And when you look closely at the design of the cake, as well as the writing, you have to wonder what on earth went on at this company!

Credit: amorequietplace

You have vile words written on the cake, along with a Barbie doll that looks as though they are vomiting down a toilet. Does this represent a normal day at work for the people who work at this company, or maybe this was just how Laura, the recipient, behaved!

A Bitter Separation

It is very rare in this day and age for anybody to keep the same job for the entire duration of their career. It isn’t a thing that happens very often anymore. So, of course, it is perfectly normal to change jobs at least once during your working years.

Credit: /awkward.com/ the chive

However, if and when you do decide to quit your job, just remember that your boss and colleagues might not take it very well! Colleagues and employers can feel let down when you tell them in advance that you’re resigning, but one thing they really don’t like is when you quit unexpectedly!

Command Prompt

Well, who knew that writing in HTML could be so emotional and romantic!? When Jake decided to quit his job as a programmer, this was the cake he received from his colleagues to express how sad they are to see him leave and if things don’t work out at the new job, then he can always return to his old one!

Credit: DerpyDruid

It’s super cute how Jake’s co-workers have had their farewell messages to him written up into programmer’s code to tell him that as a friend, they have shared many good memories together and that his co-workers wish him good luck and that they will miss him.

A Heartfelt Farewell

“Ben, you’re dead to us; we hope you fail!” isn’t the most heartfelt farewells we’ve ever seen. However, these co-workers have added a crying emoji to the cake, which perhaps indicates that they really will miss him when he leaves their company.

Credit: imgur.com/unknown

The good thing about living in these times is that with the use of emojis being so popular, you never really have to express true emotions in words or actions. You can simply write what you want and finish your sentence off with an emoji to express your true feelings. If there is a face in your sentence, people will take more notice of that anyway!

Sad to See You Go

It’s always sad when something good comes to an end, no matter whether it’s a relationship, a holiday, your favorite Netflix series, or in this case, working with a couple of lovely colleagues. One employee was so sad to see two of her favorite co-workers, leaving that she made them a little cake.

Credit:https://medium.com/ Bored Panda

This pretty little cake is sweet and simple but gets the message across perfectly! At first glance, the wording might sound a little harsh, but underneath, it goes on to explain that the two resigning colleagues will be sadly missed!

A Lasting Memory of Your Former Job

As we go through life, it’s easy to forget people we met, such as our teachers from school, lecturers at college, people we met in passing, and even colleagues from our workplaces. Yet, they say that if you do remember the names and faces of people, it is because they left a lasting impression on you.

Credit: .imgur.com/Vnj2pw4.jpg

With a farewell cake like this, this worker may not remember everybody they worked with at this company, but one thing is for sure, they’ll always remember this cake and the man’s image on it! Hopefully, they will see the funny side.

Greener Grass and All That…

Some people believe that grass is greener on the other side, whereas others strongly disagree and believe it’s best to stay put. When this woman decided to leave her job in exchange for a better one, her colleagues had some less than encouraging words for her.

Credit: thechive.com/

Not only do her co-workers call her a quitter, but they also bid her a final farewell by adding that they hope she fails! These co-workers either have a very worrying sense of humor, or they’re just mean, in which case we can bet the recipient of this cake was glad she quit!

What They Really Think Of You…

Unless you are one of the most hated people at your work, in which case they are glad to see you go, it is never an easy move to tell your colleagues that you’re leaving the company at which you work. It’s also never easy to have to tell your boss or co-workers that you’re moving to a competitor.

Credit: steemit.com/

Well, that’s what this guy did, and in return, they presented him with this cake on his last day of working at the company! He handed in his notice and let slip that he was moving to a competitor company, and this was their response!

Cooking Up a Storm

Professional chefs have a reputation for being passionately hot-headed and fiery at times. So it is not surprising that your colleagues would whip up something passionately dangerous as part of your leaving gift when you resign from working in the kitchen.

Credit: needfunny.net/

On the last day of working as a cook in a restaurant, this woman was shocked to find herself presented with this cake. This lethal sweet treat bears the words: “You’re dead to us,” along with a knife made out of icing and fake blood droplets along the blade. Should she eat it or keep it for evidence purposes?!

Mixed Emotions

The combination of the middle finger, the abrupt words, and love hearts make us think that there are some mixed emotions here. It makes us almost believe that it is kind of a love-hate situation going on here. Maybe he likes some of his co-workers and will miss them, but not his manager?

Credit: needfunny.net/

This looks as though the cake has been given by the person leaving to their former colleagues. Perhaps the employee is expressing their sadness through their coarseness? On the other hand, the term “suckers” could be an odd, but the friendly nickname for the co-workers!?
