The Best Way to Experience the Canadian Rockies

By Ryan F

Without a doubt, the Canadian Rockies are one of North America’s favorite destinations during all seasons of the year. This is the perfect place to sit back and take-in the massive landscapes found in the area, as the beauty found here is some of the most majestic this world has to offer. Two must-visit destinations in the Canadian Rockies are Jasper and Banff parks, and we’ll take a quick look at what makes these locations so attractive.

Jasper National Park

Jasper National Park is an outstanding place to visit, filled with mesmerizing waterfalls, magnificent mountains, deep-blue lakes and of course, the grand glaciers the area is known for. Jasper Park is a great place for hikers, namely at Wilcox Pass, Whistlers Mountain and Sulphor Skyline. Majestic waterfalls can be found at Sunwapta and Athabasca Falls, both found right off the Icefields Parkway highway. Jasper is also a great place to spot wildlife, including mountain goats, elk, moose, bighorn sheep and of course, bears, both black and grizzly.

Banff National Park

The natural beauty found at Banff National Park takes many of its visitors by surprise – there’s just something about the huge lakes, teeming wildlife and towering mountains that make this an absolutely unforgettable experience. Be sure to pay a visit to Lake Louise, Minnewanka and Moraine for the amazing turquoise glacier-fed waters. These places offer exciting hiking trails in a variety of difficulty levels, so be sure to plan ahead. When it comes to wildlife, you can expect to see many different species, including sheep, mountain goats, black and grizzly bears and coyotes. However, be sure to keep a safe distance from the wildlife. After all, you are in their territory, and getting a perfect photo isn’t a good-enough reason to put the animals and yourself at risk.
