Naples: A Taste of Real Italia

By Ryan F

Naples, perhaps the lesser-toured major city of Italy, is a wonderful choice for a real Italian experience, including beautiful sights, lingering sounds and unforgettable flavors. While Rome and Florence are a wonderful experience for travelers, Naples offers a more authentic taste of Italian culture. This is the perfect place to learn how real Italians live, including far-better prices than found other major Italian cities, making Naples a great budget-oriented choice.

Naples is home to many attractions that will easily make your stay feel action-packed. The City Center dates as far-back as 470 BC and is a UNESCO world heritage site. You’ll find three magical castles, a glorious royal palace and of course many churches and majestic cathedrals everywhere you’ll look. As you can probably guess, ancient ruins are one of the major attractions in the area, and they can be found in many places in or around Naples. For example, Naples is just a short drive from Pompeii and Herculaneum, two ancient cities covered by the volcanic ash that came from a major eruption at Mount Vesuvius back in the year 79. You can get really close to the ruins too, and even see the bones of those who perished here nearly 2,000 years ago.

Another great aspect to visiting Naples is the fact that it’s a great departure point for many more amazing locations in Italy, namely to the nearby Islands and resort destinations, including Amalfi Coast, Capri, Ischia and Sorrento.
