Naples, Italy’s third-largest city, is the former seat of Italian royalty and one of the most popular Italian vacation destinations. The colorful location is a hub of local culture. The history of Italian art, architecture, and industry can all be linked back to Naples in some way. Located on the Bay of Naples, the city’s booming shipping industry has had a unique impact on the region. Visitors looking for a culturally enriching trip will feel right at home in the coastal charm of Naples. 

One of Naples’ most fascinating features is nearby Mount Vesuvius. The volcano is best known for the eruption that decimated the city of Pompeii in 79 AD. Today, visitors can tour the city, which has been petrified for centuries under a rock-like layer of ash. Tourists also have the option of climbing Vesuvius itself, a trek that will only take 20 to 30 minutes. Shuttle buses from Naples leave regularly, making travel to the historical and natural wonder even more simple.

On the mainland, Naples Harbour is another must-see. The harbor is separated into several districts, each with something exciting to offer visitors. Whether you’re looking for shopping, dining, or a calm view of the docks, Naples Harbour has something for everyone. Additionally, Naples Harbour is a launching point for boats to the island of Capri. This beautiful island has previously housed some of Italy’s most iconic historic figures. Today, Capri is a beloved vacation destination featuring gorgeous views and clear blue waters. 

Further inland, Naples if full of stunning artwork and breath-taking architecture of historic proportions. The Naples National Architectural Museum is an excellent spot to learn about Italy’s incredible past. Likewise, the cobblestone streets of the district of Santa Lucia is a perfect local for some low-key sightseeing and dining.
