Jimmy Fallon Asked Twitter For Wedding Fails And The Internet Provided

By Praseetha N

Getting married is, seemingly, the easy part. You say a couple of words, sign some papers, slide the ring on, and BAM! You’re hitched for life. Staying married is a whole different ballpark. So what do you do when life decides to throw you a curveball on the day of your wedding? Well, these couples are about to show us how it’s done (or how it shouldn’t be done). Jimmy Fallon made sure to ask his audience for their best whoopsie daisy moments. Some of them are cute, others are failed attempts to be cute and others are just straight up cringe. So sit back and witness some of the funniest couples who said their “I Dos”. They’re bound to leave you taking notes to do damage control for your own big day — or being grateful it went far more smoothly than it did for these people!

Don’t Drop The Bride

Right after you say “I do”, there should be a moment of pure joy where laughter, claps and just pure joy erupts in the air. Your guests are all around you and you’re probably hoping your cameraman captures all the right moments.

Well, for this couple, their cameraman caught every single moment, even the not-so-precious ones. The newlyweds said their I Do’s and the groom was probably thinking carrying his new bride back down the aisle in his arms would be the perfect gesture. But, alas, luck (and upper body strength) was not on their side.

Caught On Camera

Here’s another thing about weddings: with all the photography and video cams going around, you have to be on your best behavior. You don’t want to be that guest who is caught accidentally rolling their eyes when someone dances funny.

This girl got caught in the act when she saw her brother, the groom, kissing his bride. As siblings, we totally understand where she’s coming from. But maybe hide it a bit more gracefully behind a napkin next time. Someone looks a little sour. Maybe bring a boyfriend next time?

Something Borrowed

Wardrobe malfunctions happen all the time, and weddings are no exception. Seams rip, buttons go missing, and if you’re really unlucky, suddenly nothing fits anymore. But the worst thing you could actually do is cause these mishaps due to pure carelessness.

This groom not only took the wrong suit, which was too small for him, but it didn’t even match his bride’s wedding dress! That last part got us wondering if the dress was something other than white, because a basic black and white tux would have matched just fine.

A Matching Coincidence

Okay, this had to be planned, right? If it wasn’t, this is one amazing coincidence! All three grandmas showed up wearing the exact dress with the same color. Maybe they all went shopping at the same clothing store. After all, great minds think alike.

It’s a good thing they took it in stride and no one was feeling bitter. We have seen it before where two or more people wear the same outfit and they end up grunting and trying to hide. Glad these grannies were happy with their matching dresses.

Doggy Nap Time

Having your little furbabies included in your wedding is certainly special. You get to have the most loyal creatures right there by your side, who might even love you more than your spouse (but that’s an argument for another time).

Plus, for a doggo, being part of your big day means they are alert and ready for duty! Which is why you should forgive them if they need a little snooze on your soft wedding dress, from being so adorable. Side note though, this is a #weddingwin.

Miscalculation

Your career is something that defines a part of who you are. Often, people take great pride in what they do, and some even use it as a day to day skill. But when you’re a meteorologist, you would think that you’d ensure your own wedding day would be sunny and perfect for an outdoor ceremony.

This somewhat incautious bride perhaps tempted Mother Nature just a tad, as her predictions of a bright sunny day did not come true. Instead she was blessed with rain. Hopefully, not everything or everyone was soaked. Now isn’t that ironic, don’t you think?

Series Of Unfortunate Events

When people are gathered around you and they’re having fun and sharing laughs, something somewhere is bound to go wrong. For this bride, however, many things happened in rapid succession. It’s almost a surprise she didn’t wrap herself up with sheet wrap after the second spill.

This is truly a series of unfortunate events, come to life. We mean, how happy must you be to spill wine of the bride’s dress and just how funny was that joke. Also, how did they get the wine off? May her wedded life leave her truly showered with blessings!

Fake Cake

The wedding cake is the centerpiece that holds the aesthetics of a wedding together, and a lot of expectations rest on it. So when your wedding cake ends up not being there, or worse, destroyed, there’s only one thing you can do to salvage a cakeless wedding.

Piece together a bunch of Styrofoam, piping some frosting and pray to the heavens above that no one is able to tell the difference. We mean, that Costco cake might give it away but still, A+ for effort! Also, this best friend must have a career in cake design. Quick thinking, girl!

Ba-Dum-Tss…

Everyone loves poking fun at the bride and groom, and it is usually welcomed to create some lighthearted fun. After all, a wedding can get dull if no one is doing anything other than slow dancing and talking amongst themselves while the hired entertainment is playing.

This particular best man however, took it a tad too far with calling out the elephant in the room, especially if the first wife was in attendance. But if we’re being perfectly honest, we would have totally burst out laughing if we had been there.

Bridal Clean-Up Duty

A wedding should be a fun experience for any bride and groom. They are, after all, the main attraction. So imagine if you had to go through what this couple did, after having enjoyed their big day and hosted a slew of guests. Boy, would we be annoyed!

You’d think after the whole event, you’d drive off into the sunset your new husband or wife. But no, these two staged the whole thing and went back inside to help clean up…why though? Looks like these two would make a great pair. Kudos to cleaning up, you guys!

Throwing Shade

We all know bringing two families together, while it should be a wonderful thing, can often end in one person from each side disliking something about their new in-laws. Sadly, this is quite common. However, whatever it is that went down at this wedding, was not.

But wait — did she actually die or is that a terrible typo? We are pretty sure something, somewhere went down and no one spoke about it. Because let’s be honest, dyeing your shoes the wrong color is definitely not grounds for alienation.

Be On Savings Time

No matter how you feel about Daylight Savings Time, it’s pretty relatable to say that because of it, we have all made mistakes, whether we were super late to an event or perhaps even an interview, yikes! While this seems like something a couple of wedding guests would do, we did not expect it to come from the bride and groom themselves.

They had forgotten to mention that their ceremony starts on Daylight Savings Time and all their guests were fashionably late. Let’s hope they don’t pay for the venue by the hour. At least they weren’t one hour early! That would have been more of a disaster.

Catch Me If I Fall

Honestly, we wouldn’t want to go anywhere near a staircase on our wedding day, because we’re aware of our limitations. This photo is giving us palpitations mainly because we don’t know how that photo turned out! Did he fall down the flight of stairs? Is she okay? Did the wedding still go on?

It is beyond us why anyone would fool around on a flight of stairs especially when they are wearing clothes that restrict movement. Imagine how the bride must have felt. We can guess from the look on her face, though. Can we say, what is up with all these people slipping during weddings? Perhaps gripper shoes are in order?

Vow Time

Wedding vows and the undoing for many couples and guests. They are often sappy and sweet, and just a whole bunch of love and warmth rolled into one speech. That’s why couples usually write their vows months in advance to get every detail right.

Clearly, this groom spent hours, probably days even, to get his vows perfect for his new bride. His efforts clearly paid off because she was on the brink of joyful tears before saying one decidedly unromantic word that sums up her love for him. We only wish to have a partner as cool as hers who would make so much effort to make a response. Lol.

Catch The Bouquet!

Catching the bouquet at a wedding is an old-fashioned way of showing who the next lucky gal to be married would be. However, depictions of the moment over the years, especially through media, show women becoming rather anxious and brutal when it comes to shoving someone out of the way to catch their sliver of hope that is a mere bouquet.

Unfortunately, the media was far off, because this woman clearly wanted that bouquet despite being married! Perhaps that’s her way of showing she wants out? Or she probably saw it as a way to show off her catching skills? Either way, you gotta calm down, girl. There are other things in this world you can catch.

Sweep Me Off My Feet

Ah, love. It’s a wonderful thing and the lucky ones get to spend the rest of their lives with the one they love. As the saying goes, when one gets swept off their feet, it’s often a good thing! However, these newlyweds took the saying perhaps a tad too literally.

They walked out of the church as lovely as can be, and the groom decided to tip his bride to give her a smooch. But clearly, she has the bee’s knees and went tumbling down. This is why some of us women are indifferent to heels. What if we trip down the stairs on our wedding day? Yes, it happens, and it can be catastrophic.

Brawl Time

The best man and the groom are traditionally either good friends that have known each other for decades, or even family members like brothers or cousins. Either way, they usually symbolize trust and brotherhood, which is why what this pair did puzzles everyone.

The night before the wedding should be joyful yet calm as the wedding party tries to relax before the big event, but clearly these two decided to pull punches on each other. What on Earth could have set them off like that? We want to know that story!

Spicy Mix-Up

Who was the caterer that decided it would be a good idea to put two food that look the same but taste very different next to each other? A label would have helped tremendously as well. Or, you know, someone stopping an old lady from scooping heaps on wasabi onto her plate?

We are pretty sure someone was just watching silently while all this went down. Hopefully, the poor woman wasn’t too harmed. At the same time, we can’t help but wonder what kind of spread was laid out that has both guacamole and wasabi.

Priorities

Capturing every moment at a wedding is crucial. As the bride and groom, you don’t really get to see everyone who came by to the wedding. So, the next best thing is to hire a videographer and photographers. This person, for reasons we do not know why, decided to give the task to their niece.

The decision is a bit baffling. Clearly, this niece is a young child because her priorities were set a lot more different than everyone else’s. Why should she film someone’s happiest day when she could instead take shots and videos of a captivating little pupper instead?

Carless Mistake

It’s fun picking out the car you’re going to drive off with once you get married. Some couples even rent out vintage cars for the day. But the most fun comes from decorating the car itself in your own style.

You get to add streamers and lights and, of course, that nice big sign that reads “Just Married”. The worst that could happen is that you do all that on the wrong car. For these friends, they not only did it on the wrong car, but they did on the preacher’s car.

Breaking Tradition

Traditionally, a woman would take on her husband’s last name after marriage. But nowadays, woman are more free to keep their name if they so choose, and men are also free to take on their wife’s last name. For those who do decide to take on their spouse’s last name, it is a choice and no longer a must.

This bride joked with her father-in-law that she would make his son take on her last name instead. But when the priest accidentally mentioned her last name, you can just see how thrilled she is by the coincidence. What a stroke of luck!

A Howling Protest

We have all seen this particular scenario repeated over and over again in movies and soaps. It goes like this: the bride and groom are at the altar and awaiting the priest to read them their vows. Then comes the question.

“If anyone can show just cause why this couple cannot lawfully be joined together in matrimony, let them speak now or forever hold their peace.” Usually, this line is omitted and people never actually protest, but this couple had the rare gift of having a pack of hounds howl their protest!

Brutal Honesty

Children are brutally honest whether you want them to be or not. They will tell you what they want, whenever they want, and who cares if you’re the Queen or even a bride on your special day. Well, at least this particular kid thought so.

His mom was getting married and like any young child, this one happened to grow a little bit rambunctious at the wedding. Unfortunately, he decided to express himself in a very loud way by announcing exactly what he was thinking.

Punting The Glass

In Jewish wedding traditions, it is customary that the groom stomps on a glass with his right foot, crushing it. This is said to commemorate the destruction of the ancient Holy Temple in Jerusalem, and also serves as a reminder that you have found the other half that was once separated from you.

This groom was either too excited or was afraid of commitment, because instead of crushing the glass, he sent it flying! That’s one way to start off a marriage. May the rest of their life together be as exciting as this crazy moment. We’re hoping they had a l’chayim (toast) during the reception to make up for that lousy move.

Shackled For Life

Usually while planning their wedding, most people also make a list of everything that could possibly go wrong and try to create solutions or backups beforehand. Whether it’s a ripped seam or stained veil or even a cake that could topple, people try to keep it covered.

But some things happen no matter how hard you try. This happy couple had a fire at their wedding and everyone had to be evacuated but they had fun with it for sure. They even took the meaning of shackled for life literally. If their marriage reception can survive a fire, pretty sure they’ll be able to survive even the toughest storms!

Pulling A Ross Geller

We all know that iconic scene in Friends where Ross says Rachel’s name instead of his soon-to-be wife, Emily’s. Chaos and gasps could practically be heard around the world. Well, something similar happened at this wedding — but thankfully, it wasn’t the groom saying the wrong name.

The priest kept saying Catherine, and left everyone scratching their heads and turning their invitation wondering who this Catherine was. Even though he admitted forgetting the name of the bride, that must have been really awkward if someone’s ex was actually named Catherine.

Stand Up

Parents of the bride and groom play a pretty significant role at weddings. They are there to stand as role models of what marriage is all about, and even if you know the actual truth, nevertheless, it’s just nice to have ’em around.

However, for this bride, her parents made sure to keep it real and show what real marriage is all about: proper communication. Dad stepped on Mom’s dress which then prevented her from standing up. Drama ensued, but let’s hope they kept it civil.

Say My Name

Wedding jitters don’t just affect the bride and groom. The phenomenon can extend to every person that is involved in the ceremony and event. Whether you’re the entertainment or the groomsmen, nerves tend to take over. After all, they did trust you to be part of their magical day.

This poor girl was set to make a speech on her sister’s wedding day, and it’s completely normal to be nervous. But her nerves were probably fired up, because she not only said the wrong name while introducing herself, but actually said her sister the bride’s name instead.

Wakey, Wakey

Weddings can get rather long-winded, and people tend to get sleepy when speeches and sermons go on and on. However, falling asleep when you’re sitting at the back of the ceremony versus falling asleep at the front row are very different situations.

This poor old priest somehow managed to do a fairly incredible thing for someone who was supposed to be officiating the wedding. He fell asleep and he looks like he’s well off into dreamland. Hopefully, he got some good rest after the wedding. He surely deserves it!

A Cry For Help

We all like to joke about runaway brides and grooms who get cold feet. But some people take certain things too far. These group of groomsmen probably watched Toy Story the night before, and got the best idea for a prank.

They wrote on the back of the groom shoe “Help Me”, for the entire hall of people to see. While it could be embarrassing, it would make for a really funny photo and a great story to talk about when you’re old and grey. At least he was able to crack a joke without saying anything. Props to you, buddy.

Gone With The Wind

Wedding cakes, as we have mentioned before, hold the big picture together on that most special day. So what happens when you don’t plan properly when having an outdoor wedding? Well, you leave yourself open to whatever Mother Nature might throw at you.

And we all know how well she plays her game — ruthless and without mercy. She saw this wedding topper and nothing in her way and she went straight in for the kick and she landed a touchdown. Imagine the faces of the guests who walked in after the groom fell off the cake. Hilarious.

Stealing Thunder

Rule of thumb at any wedding: if you’re not the one getting married, it’s not about you. Ever. It’s simple, don’t wear white or anything too flashy, don’t propose, and don’t create your own little scene that will draw the crowd’s attention away from the couple. This woman obviously didn’t get the memo.

She decided to bring out cake and set it on the table — but it’s not for the wedding party, nope! It’s for her niece instead. How entitled is that child or aunt that they can’t allow someone else to have the spotlight for one day?

Pregnancy Scare

Getting married is exciting! Getting pregnant is even more exciting (for some), but what happens when they both happen at the same time? Well, for this couple, they got pregnant before the nuptials and that’s fine, but it had been not brought to the attention of the bride’s side of the family.

And like any normal wedding in a sitcom come to life, someone decided to congratulate the happy couple and soon-to-be parents. That must have been one heck of a wedding video after that announcement was made. Yikes. Wonder what their faces looked like in the moment?

Treasure Hunt

Beach weddings are great — in photos, that is. In reality, they can get pretty messy. Moreover, not many people tell you this, but your hair will get so frizzy, and you will end up really sticky and you won’t know why. And that ocean breeze? Hello, pollution.

For this couple, however, came a whole new problem. Drop the ring in the grass, or on the church floor, and it’s likely easily retrieved — no big deal. However, this bride here dropped the ring in the sand, and that started a treasure hunt, and an extremely tense and expensive one at that.

Just Go With It

Not every little detail that you plan will go smoothly on your wedding day, and hopefully, through all the stress, you can emotionally prepare yourself to accept and let go of the smaller bits. Things happen and people get involved and before you know it, some tiny little details fall through.

Sometimes, there’s just so many things you have planned and so much stuff happening at once, you might leave something out. Take this couple, for example, who forgot to pick a song. To be honest, that DJ picked that song on purpose. There were so many other appropriate songs.

Read Between The Lines

There’s a lot of pressure when you’re up there at the altar. You’re paying attention to the sermons and have to make sure you are alert enough to keep yourself from stammering or mixing up the words (or pulling a Ross Geller).

This poor groom apparently got so nervous that he not only forgot his vows, but he ended up crying. He starts saying random promises that honestly sound so much better than “I promise to give you the moon and stars”.

Going Overboard

Wedding photoshoots are always a treat! When else are you going to be able to get all dolled up and strike a pose with a professional photographer? Plus, you have the added benefit of doing it with your loved ones and everyone has the opportunity to turn out gorgeous.

Unless you decide to do it near a water source, in which case you need some luck on your side. This couple seemingly took their dreamy photo shoot overboard. Although, that seems like a photo they’re going to want to have framed.

An Empty Schedule

To be completely honest, we aren’t too sure if this is considered a wedding fail, but just read on and tell us if you disagree. So this lovely couple decided to get married, and when the bride cheekily said “thanks for showing up” to her groom, he simply replied “I didn’t have plans”.

Although this might have sounded a bit jarring to their guests, honestly, that sounds like a pretty chill relationship to us. Let’s hope that they were actually kidding and they really did expect each other to turn up at their own wedding.

Don’t Let Me Fall

Well, in this case, he definitely didn’t let her fall, but instead fell with her. We start this list with was supposed to be a heartwarming father-daughter dance. However, the flower girl and the father of the bride decided to act out the infamous scene from Dirty Dancing.

We wonder if the bride was planning to do that as well. Either way, it’s clear to say that did not end well. But judging from the bride’s reaction at the end, it would seem no one got hurt. But either way, this day will be one for the books, that’s for sure!

Fashionably Late

This particular wedding fail made our jaws drop! So this lady had a bump on her wedding and it was more than a bit noticeable. Her dress was not only not there when she needed it, but it was two and a half hours late — and the dressmaker had the audacity to complain about her bad day.

What did she wear down the aisle? We have to say that if we had been in their shoes, we would have chased the tailor at least 2 weeks before the wedding. Poor bride! That tailor had better not have charged her for that dress.

Mourning Bells

There’s always that one person who isn’t all that thrilled for your upcoming nuptials. They might drop little signals like a deep sigh or a grunt and some even announce that they aren’t coming to the wedding at all. Quite frankly, it’s better that they don’t show up anyways; who needs the bad vibes?

Unfortunately, this woman decided to take a stroll down Petty Lane, dressing in all black and sitting in the back row. If that isn’t performance art, we don’t know what is. Come on, why would you do that on someone’s special day? If you were planning to take revenge on someone, couldn’t it have been at a better time?

Riding The Waves

Beach weddings are made out to be so very romantic: the soft waves, the gentle breeze, and that gorgeous natural sunlight that just makes every photo look Photoshopped. Plus, you don’t really have to pay a bomb for a venue. However, every upside has its downside.

Take this beautiful couple, standing there by the beachside, enjoying each other’s company while taking what they thought was going to be a series of romantic shots of them by the beach. Alas, the ocean is a friend to no one but its own sea creatures. Let’s hope that dress wasn’t a rental.

Watch Your Back

Lesson learned. There are so many different elements in this GIF that are playing with our emotions. We all want to be able to look back on our wedding day through photos that were taken, and perhaps some videos too.

Unfortunately for this couple, they might just have to make do with selfies and shaky shots taken by their guests, because from the looks of things, the cameras are probably thoroughly soaked. Yikes! We feel awful for both parties involved in this mishap.

The First Dance

The first dance that you take as now husband and wife is the most romantic dance (or so they say) you will ever have. So many people often try to get it right, by taking dance classes or even making sure to wear comfy shoes.

But sadly for this bride, she kept slipping on her dress while her husband twirled her, and though she told him not to, he did so one last time. She fell and while it was sweet of him to join her on the ground, he surely learned his first lesson as a husband: always listen to your wife.

Doggone It!

We know we said stick to pets if you want that wonderful touch of furry companions in your wedding photos, but perhaps stick to your own pet. Unless of course, your spouse has their own pets, in which case, y’all had better get acquainted before the big day.

Perhaps this dog did not like his new mom and was trying to get used to her. Or maybe he had a keen sense of fashion and thought that it was a terrible-looking dress and needed to be dealt with. From the looks of it, animals should be a no-go at weddings.

Tumbling With Grace

Your first entrance as newly pronounced husband and wife (we’re generalizing here) is always fun and filled with cheers. Unless, of course, you’re the traditional sort and you walk down the banquet hall with soft music playing and guests and relative quiet. This video was not that kind of wedding.

The bride and groom, clearly excited with their happy day are seen bouncing down the hall but the bride perhaps got a tad too excited and found herself on the ground more than once. Luckily, the crowd kept cheering her on! What a great audience!

A Symbol Of Aggression

Swans are great to look at — from afar, that is. Perhaps through a pair of binoculars, even. Why? Because despite them looking all lovely and delicate, they are far from it! They can get aggressive and could actually hurt you pretty bad.

Take it from this bride, who thought it was a good idea to approach these ‘gentle’ creatures. It almost ripped her dress right off. Stick to your pets if you want an animal companion in your wedding photos. These swans were the only ones who wanted to be in the water. After all, the bride was probably interrupting their much needed R&R time!

Take The Plunge

There are many types of signs that people classify as a bad omen: breaking a mirror, walking under a ladder, and so on. How about for weddings? The groom seeing the bride in her dress before the wedding? Perhaps a bit of rain on your outdoor venue?

What if your bride and the priest takes a plunge into a pond during the ceremony? That sounds like plenty of bad luck. We do not want to be the best man right now. He single-handedly ruined a wedding ceremony. We don’t blame him, though. There were steps. So perhaps the next wedding should be on a flat surface? Just a little tip.
