Work Fails Where People Forgot That They Weren’t Immortal

By Praseetha N

Taking risks is what life is all about. Going against the simple ways of doing things and trying a whole new series of adventures because YOLO, right? Want to go bungee jumping or try exotic food that looks like it might land you in the hospital? Go for it! However, these guys down here take the meaning of taking risks to a whole new level, and their version of getting the job done looks like someone should have the ambulance on standby. From hanging on the edge of a building to getting into car accidents, these people have done them all. Are they made of styrofoam or play putty? They defy all odds without worrying about what’ll happen to them. Read on to see these warriors defy the laws of gravity.

Not The Face!

We get it. Our face is our selling point in most businesses so of course our first instinct when something comes flying is to duck and cover our heads. This guy obviously thought this through. He saw he had now to cover for his face and decided to makeshift one.

While it’s pretty clear to everyone else that something should happen, his face is done for but hey, at least the illusion of safety is there and we’ll give him credit for at least trying. Side note: How is he breathing in that? Also, who even approved this? Hopefully, he lived to tell the tale of his story.

And The Winner Is…

If we hadn’t gone through all those before us, this particular image may have had our hearts going. We do not know how he’s doing it but my goodness, we really want to know why he’s doing it. Imagine the scare the people walking under him would have felt!

Also, that must be an incredibly strong ladder and he must be an incredibly brave man for attempting what we call the ladder act of the century. We bow to you, kind sir! While this is no competition, you have officially won the worst work safety fails there is! We only hope he lived to tell the tale.

Cutting It Close

Friends who have your back are the best kind of friends. Friends who lend you their back to sign documents are even better, but these kinds of friends? Or perhaps this guy was the intern and they decided to really milk him, seeing as there seems to be a table behind him.

Either way, they must trust you a whole lot or you’re holding something over their heads, because who else would get on their knees and act as a table for a woodcutter? Or maybe this is a picture of a crime scene waiting to happen. We really do hope nothing bad happened here…

The Brotherhood Of Ladders

Hey, look! It’s a ladder act! How fun. Well, at least this one looks far more stable compared to the rest and trust us when we say you are about to witness a whole lot more than this. This guy, however, has a bunch of his buddies holding the ladder and keeping an eye on him.

Plus, one of his buddies is actually part of the ladder. They definitely thought this through or they could just be very wasted to realize what’s actually happening. After all we have seen, we wonder if it’s budget cuts that lead to the lack of taller ladders.

Safety Who?

Do you know what is a wood chipper? Well, of course you do, and even if you don’t, the name itself is pretty self-explanatory. It’s a giant piece of machinery that mercilessly rips and shreds large pieces of wood and it does so at a shocking speed.

Somehow, we do not think this man has any idea what a wood chipper is, because if he did, we are pretty sure he wouldn’t be stuffing his foot in there like he’s trying to fit a pizza box into his garbage bin. Hopefully, no one will turn the switch on…

Dick Van Dyke’d It

This person looks like they got an idea after watching Mary Poppins and wondered how he could emulate the scene where the chimney sweepers and all dancing on the rooftops. Except they were probably, oh we don’t know, paid actors who weren’t actually on a roof?

We don’t want to judge too harshly, of course. He could easily be a professional or perhaps he’s a really nice guy to clean his neighbor’s chimney. But one wrong move and he’s going to sweep the side of that chimney with his face.

Makeshift Ladder

Just when we thought people could not get any more creative with the use of ladders, we see yet another masterpiece of an engineering marvel. It takes not only brains but also a lot of guts to put something like this together and look at your boss and say: “I fixed the problem!”

Whoever put this together needs to have a long talk with MacGyver himself, because then MacGyver can tell them exactly when and where they are going to meet their peril. Hopefully, the person who used this so-called ladder was as light as a feather. Honestly, the lack of regard to safety is astounding.

Keep Your Head In The Game

In the light of the pandemic, we see a shortage of masks and some people resort to covering their faces with large plastic bottles and contraptions they have made, which can be a very good idea — if done correctly. In fact, it could easily protect you, or least block out some viruses.

However, if you are working in construction, placing a plastic bucket over your head seems like it will cause a lot more damage. Mainly, breathing difficulties, and the possibility of shrapnel piercing through that flimsy plastic. Might as well don a helmet instead of this makeshift plastic helmet?

Acrobatic Construction

This image just has us going wow. Not only would you need a lot of guts to get up to that height, you need some real mind power to stay there to! Plus, imagine trying to nail something or use a drill, but the only balance you have is your feet on a thin piece of wood.

They almost look like they belong on stage at Cirque du Soleil! Well, okay, maybe that’s a bit of an exaggeration, but to be able to hold on and nail something or paint something takes a lot of balancing and they can easily put any gymnast to shame.

Just A Little Trim

Ever had a chore that you were stuck with and you wished you had another way of doing it? Like when you have piles of laundry and just wish you had some mechanism like an auto-folding robot to help you? Or perhaps a hedge that needed trimming but you’re just too tired to start trimming?

Well, this man took one look at his messy hedges and realized he had the perfect way to make life easier. So he somehow got ahold of a crane and hoisted himself into a lawnmower that was perched on top on his hedges. Wow, now that’s being a problem solver.

Modern Solutions

We don’t really know what they are doing but we’re guessing they are fixing something or placing something under that bridge. That’s good and all, but the way they are doing it throws us off just a smidge. Because from the looks of it, that water doesn’t seem very still.

That guy sitting on the crane seems way too relaxed and the other person on the ladder also seems to not worry that the current may actually sweep that ladder from underneath their feet. All we can say here is that, may the odds be ever in your favor. Or should we say the current?

Holding Up Well

You know how you look at a situation from afar and you think that “Hey, that looks normal” but then you turn away and your brain starts to digest what it just saw and decide to have you look again? Then, you start to spot things that you didn’t notice were there in the beginning.

Well, this situation seems like one of those moments. Why didn’t he just call someone or at least wait to get the proper tool to hold up the car? We can only hope those planks don’t slide off or snap off because that is going to be painful…

Shoots & Ladders

Here is another trapeze act waiting to fail. Clearly this guy left his stilts at home because whatever led to this decision was not a good one. We find the need to ask though, what’s up with people and stacking up ladders? Does this really work? Is it like a trick of the trade or something?

At least, if he falls, he’ll fall straight into those bushes and not hurt himself. Maybe next time, they’ll get helmets as well. Or maybe their supervisor will walk past and give them a much-needed talk and the proper tools so that no one actually falls.

Defying Physics

We would collectively like to know who was the genius who looked at the problem and went “This would fix it!” and decided to put this death trap together. While it could be a decent idea it just seems not well thought through. Just looking at the setup here seems scary.

Mainly in the sense, they balance the ladder on only once foot instead of both. We can’t help but wonder how is that ladder not tipping to the side, sending that poor soul flying off the roof? It’s either a trick of the camera or perhaps just a really steep roof.

Making Use Of Your Friends

This looks like something you’d pull when you were a kid with your siblings. But then again, we have all been there. Something is out of reach and you use other items to reach out to it. Or when you can’t reach a parking ticket so you do weird maneuvers to get to it. That’s all normal!

Only in this case, it’s not normal and instead of using an item, they decided to make good use of their friend and his opposable thumbs to grab hold of whatever treasure they dropped in there. We only assume it’s a treasure, because that’s the only valid explanation for a stunt like this.

Sleeping On The Job

Sleeping on the job is risky in any sort of career or field. However, we all do it and the trick is basically to not get caught and if you do, explain yourself in a way that gains sympathy. But let’s be honest, trying to come up with an excuse after waking up from a power nap is hard.

Which is why this guy proceeded to fall asleep on a ledge. Genius idea! Highly dangerous and could possibly lead to termination if found but genius! Who would have thought such an idea could work but we suggest that we leave this kind of stunts to the pros.

Pink Eye, Anyone?

This is either so ingenious or so silly that we don’t really understand what’s happening. It’s an eye washer, sure, but it is also something that can run the possibility of giving you a severe infection or pink eye — and we all know how fun that is to get. Kidding of course.

Also, while getting that eye infection, you will also win a one-way trip to electrocution nation, because that socket seems awfully close to a very splashy water source. So, if you’re in the mood of getting an infection and a electric shock, step right up.

Good Friends

Here’s another show of good friendship. It sucks when you’re enjoying a day indoors with the air conditioning and it decides to break down on you. It’s even worse when you come home after a long, hot day and find out the air-conditioning isn’t working either.

Well, these guys obviously would not have that and instead of calling over a technician, decided to help hoist their friend out the window to fix it. All we hope for is that the man and the condenser unit didn’t fall off or that he fixes the AC before all the blood rushes to his head.

Beating A Sunny Day

It’s a bird! It’s a plane! No, it’s just three guys deciding to defy gravity to defeat evil forces of a hot sunny day! By looking at this photo it looks as though these three have had about enough with the scorching heat and decided to take matters into their own hands.

Why would you call electricians with tools when you have a dangerous ledge to climb onto, right? Besides, what’s a little fall if you get air-conditioning out of it. Hopefully, no one forgets that they are standing on the ladder that’s holding their friend up.

Slapstick Comedy Waiting To Happen

Remember Charlie Chaplin, the guy that made everyone laugh with his slapstick humour? Or perhaps that cartoon called Tom & Jerry? Well, these guys decided to emulate the funny man, but something tells us this is going to end a whole lot more differently.

Plus, the guy in the background with a sledgehammer looks like he’s all ready to go and remove whatever flooring they have. Honestly, while it’s funny now, let’s hope no one got hurt! Also, why would you stand by and take a photo instead of stopping them?

Have A Little Sense

We live in a world where we have different people with a wide range of disabilities and as a seemingly humane society, we do our very best to accommodate these disabilities. On the other hand, we also do have a bunch of people who are all about “Me, Myself & I”.

Like the person who decided to leave open wiring right above a place where a blind person would stick their arm out, clearly does not have a bone of decency or common sense in their system. Let’s just hope someone decided to fix this mess. Otherwise, people might be seriously injured from this travesty.

Wizards On A Ladder

Physics may not be everyone’s strong suit but we’d like to assume common sense is. Also, this picture looks like an illusion; the longer you stare, the more questions arise. How did he climb up there? How did he manage to stay up there?

The top ladder doesn’t seem like it’s attached or balanced on anything at all. Are we watching wizards at work? Either way, this was smart! Extremely dangerous but smart. How much do you want to bet that the guy below isn’t even paying attention?

A Rock And A Hard Place

Hmm. This seems to be an awful predicament to be in if one was in a store that caught fire. It takes a whole new meaning between a rock and a hard place. While this isn’t yet a whole Aron Ralston scene it sure could turn into one should there be a fire.

Sure, you could move the trolleys, but you would have to then face off with this rock that was either placed there to stop the trolley from rolling forward or by someone who just wanted to watch a disaster happen. Didn’t they see the sign as clear as day? They should keep the area free of people!

A Hot Mess

Would you look at this perfect bundle of mess? How much would you like to bet this was done by someone who did not wish to call a professional because, “They charge so much for something they can do in half the time and the fraction of the price”!?

Because we can guarantee that’s what happened to the charred mess. Nothing about this set up looks remotely safe. Let’s just hope after this happened, they actually called a pro before something or someone caught fire. They better have changed this; if not, then this is a very terrible idea.

You Missed A Spot

Painting is never easy and painting walls is harder, what with all the fancy maneuvers and proper planning and the dripping. So, sometimes we lose our patience when we can’t reach a particularly difficult spot and we have seen people (men, mostly) try defying the laws of physics to do just that.

Hopefully, that isn’t the front door and if it is, they had better look up. Also, this guy clearly does not own a ladder. What makes us think is that, apart from the possibility of falling to the ground, is that he has now left a handprint on his newly painted walls.

Because Sweeping Floors Is Overrated

Sometimes especially if you work in retail, you find little lulls in the day where there’s nothing to do. There’s no customers messing up the displays, the stocks have been checked and everything that is within your job scope has been done.

Well, while most of us will take a quick break or talk to a colleague, this guy decided to go the extra mile upwards. They should either award his employee of the month or give him a safety talk. But honestly, this little stunt is pretty smart though.

Circus Act

This photo frightens us. But before we get all judgey, let’s discuss the possible story behind this. Maybe they forgot to bring a taller ladder and really needed to get the job done. It makes us wonder if anyone has ever thought of using extensions.

Or perhaps the person doing this was once a tightrope walker in a circus and missed the feeling of the possibility of falling to his doom. Either way, they really ought to get a supervisor in or a ringmaster. Perhaps throw in a taller ladder. This looks like an accident waiting to happen.

MacGyver Wannabe

You know when you travel and you start making lists over what to bring and what not to bring? Well, usually one would pack essentials, especially when travelling to a foreign country, like a universal adapter. And if you happen to forget one, airports have plenty of them!

This person, however, either forgot or decided to wing it. And from the looks of it, it was the latter. Does this not look like something a MacGyver wannabe cooked up? Hopefully, he stayed alone and without any kids around. And perhaps he should just hop out and get an actual adapter.

No Emergencies, Please

Every workplace ought to have some sort of device installed somewhere, so that in case something goes awry, like a fire or a malfunction, the office workers can be kept as safe as possible in order to minimize the damage.

And then, of course, there’s this office — and let’s just say we will not be submitting our job application here anytime soon. If there’s an emergency, there’s simply no way you’ll be able to push this button on time, and that’s pretty darn scary!

Oopsy Daisy

Well, even the proud must on occasion take a tumble. From the looks of things, this gentleman is either a cop or a security guard, someone who’s meant to convey a sense of authority by how he looks and acts around others.

Come on, man. We know the donuts are tempting, but did you have to use this ridiculous scooter to get everywhere rather than just, you know, walking? We will, however, give him props for properly preparing to meet the ground: hands first!
